As if you couldn’t tell from my last post I am a little down today but I have to say these pictures made me smile and reminded me that sometimes looking at things from a different perspective is a good thing!Little Friends Photography
It seemed particularly hard to leave Taryn this morning and there were even few tears on my behalf which hasn’t happened since I went back to work last august. Maybe it was because we had a great weekend together or maybe because she was extra cuddly and smelled like sunshine this morning or maybe it is just the cycle of being a working mom. 🙁 Some days are easier than others…
Someone asked me recently about “mommy guilt” and I can honestly say that what I feel on days like today and every day is not “guilt” but rather envy.
I am SO jealous of those people that get to spend the day with our amazing daughter. I don’t have guilt because I know that I have to work and by me working we can provide her with a home and other necessities of life and I know that the people that care for her each day love her to pieces. But all that said I am still pea-green with envy that I don’t that get to rock her, kiss her forehead, and listen to chuckle when she finds something amusing!
Any other working moms out there that can relate? Do you feel mommy guilt or mommy envy?
I stopped in Top Shop yesterday to check out what the “hip” kids are wearing these days and was surprised to finds lots of pastels. I am not opposed to color in my wardrobe but I just am not sure I am a pastel person. Maybe it is because my personality is not soft like them or maybe it is because I secretly think pastels kind of age a person…. Bring on the bright colors for me!
How about you, do you wear pastels?Top Shop
How fun would it be to get an egg in the mail? Would make a fun project for kids to send eggs to grandparents and other relatives!Givers Log
In honor of pi day (as in 3.14………the date today) I thought about making a pie but since the weather here in Chicago is 77 degrees and sunny I couldn’t even imagine actually turning on the oven to bake one. However, this chocolate drizzled strawberries and cream pie from Our Best Bites might just be the perfect complement to a glass of champagne on the deck tonight! Enjoy! Our Best Bites
I am always struck by how one small change in a particular aspect of your life can totally reinvigorate that part of your life again. Here are some recent examples from my life:
New Pots and Pans – I am suddenly loving cooking again thanks to my new pots and pans!! (plus it is nice to not be using non-stick pans anymore…i was going crazy thinking about the chemicals) I think next up might have to be this delicious looking recipe from the fabulous Gluten Less Foodie!
New Nail Polish – I got a new nail polish last week and suddenly I think I am Picasso of nails! (btw the color Power Clutch is the perfect amount of color to work you back into spring)
New Floor Spray Mop – Springtime in Chicago equals muddy paw prints all over the floor at least three times a week…ugh 🙁 However now that I am obsessed with my new spray mop J laughs cause I look for a reason to clean the floors! Ha! The crazy environmentalist in me loves it for two reasons; 1) you can just throw the pads in the washing machine and reuse them so no waste and 2) you can put whatever type of floor cleaning solution you would like in the bottle. I use white vinegar and water cause I am trying limit the chemicals that Taryn crawls on and Berk licks.
What small change have you made recently that has reinvigorated you?
This about sums up what has been going on in my house recently! As I may have mentioned Taryn is crawling now and Berk seems to think she is his new personal playmate. He is constantly in play position with his butt in the air nudging her tummy with his nose as she crawls by as if to say…. “hello? play with me!”!! Too bad she thinks she is way to cool for that and just shoves him out of the way….so the attitude begins! Ha!Shop the Itty Bitty
