A Classic American Inspired Wedding

by Kerry on February 4, 2010

Hannah and Brady’s wedding was so amazing I don’t even know where to begin! Hannah hands down has to be one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen and her attention to detail is just amazing! I am still drooling over her description of the guest book made out of vintage NYC postcards and the cigar and scotch table…how fun!!! Below are a few pictures of Hannah and Brady’s big day as well as a description of the day from the bride herself!

Our style was inspired by our neighborhood in New York – the Lower East Side (“LES”) and the unique, independent style of all its amazing boutique retail stores and restaurants. It encompasses a sort of an earnest, classic American style with simple, hand made, traditional details. We wanted our wedding to feel a little like you were stepping back in time to the 40s or 50s – the style was so classic back then. We incorporated candle light, old mason jars, comfort American food, old-school cocktails (i.e., old fashioned), a cigar and scotch table, long communal dinner tables, rubber stamps, old family photos, etc. We also focused on local goods and services (i.e., local beers, handmade jewelry and musicians found on Craigslist) and environmentally-friendly vendors (i.e., Grasshopper shuttle vans).

The day was absolutely perfect. One of the best decisions we made was to write our vows together and recite them by heart to each other during the ceremony. It was more meaningful, and this way, we will never forget them! One of our favorite DIY projects was collecting vintage NYC postcards to use as our guestbook. We also used vintage postage stamps for our invitations and RSVPs which turned out really well and helped set the style of the wedding. All the small details that we pulled together to make the day “us” came together perfectly – everything from the invitations and guestbook, all the way down to the PBR beer and late night burritos. As for the party, we are blessed with an amazing and charismatic group of friends and family so there was never a dull moment on the dance floor!

*Congrats again Hannah and Brady! Wishing you many years of wedded bliss!! Thanks again for letting us share your special day! (t.o.t.t. 🙂
